Dynamics of flow in a branching channel

چکیده
Flow in a branched channel is studied experimentally using the PIV technique. The presented study concentrated on clarifying dynamical behaviour individual branches. 11 branches issuing from main perpendicularly, all channels are of rectangular cross-section. First, time-mean flow-field shown, then flow dynamics investigated OPD method. patterns and frequencies evaluated three selected separated exhibits highly behaviour, which differs substantially close to inflow, middle its end. typical topologies detected quasi-periodical structures braches shown study. Mostly, flow-fields populated by trains vortices with alternating orientation saddle-like structures. walls affects heat transfer process between wall fluid.

In this research, a two-dimensional mathematical model using turbulence model was developed in a rectangular channel with granular permeable bed. Finite volume method was used for numerical solution of governing equations. The equations considered are discretized using Hybrid difference scheme while applying SIMPLE algorithm to correct velocity components in the continuity equation. In the dev...
متن کاملResistance to Flow in a V-Shaped Bottom Channel
Water flow in open channels is always subject to the resistance to flow and energy dissipation. For design purposes, one of the needed variables is the hydraulic resistance coefficient. For this mean, the influence of cross-sectional shape together with secondary flow cells and lateral distribution of true boundary shear stress have not yet been fully explored. This paper surveys the number of ...
متن کاملapplication of computational fluid dynamics for modeling of secondary flow cells in trapezoidal channel
channel flows have three components of velocity, 1component in flow direction and 2components in spanwise of channel. because of heterogeneity of velocity undulations, in the channel section the vortices are formed that are nominated “secondary current cells”. these cells cause the lateral shear stress in the channel walls and introduce the erosion and scour of the channel walls. heterogeneity ...
